I love Valentine’s Day, but not for the reasons you are probably thinking. I love it because it is a reminder that Jesus’ death on the cross is by far the greatest expression of love the world has ever seen. John 15:13 explains, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

What Jesus’ death has done for humanity cannot be compared to any scientific discovery or technological advancement. They all fall short. Because of Jesus’ death, we can obtain salvation and forgiveness of sins. Because of Jesus’ death, we have hope of eternal life. Because of Jesus’ death, we have renewed fellowship with God. No other event in human history has so positively impacted humanity like Jesus’ death.

As you celebrate Valentine’s Day, I hope you will reflect on God’s love for you. His love is strong; His love is deep; His love is great; His love is patient; His love is kind; His love is forgiving; His love is unconditional; His love is genuine; His love is everlasting. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day in the love of Jesus and may you flow in the presence of His great love!
